Mighty Mouth’s “Lalala” Is A Summer Fiesta!

Always fresh and stylish, hip-hop duo Mighty Mouth and their Mighty girl, Soya, have returned to the stage for the summer with “Lalala.”
From “Energy” featuring Wonder Girls‘ Sunye to their most recent hit “Tok Tok” with Soya, Mighty Mouth has made a name for themselves with their memorable electronic pop/hip-hop tracks (and hilarious antics on variety shows).
The colorful and refreshing music video for the catchy Latin-inspired single features the goofy-yet-awesome duo of rappers and a bunch of bikini-clad babes hanging out lakeside.
And Soya is looking prettier than ever — with her vocals just as refreshing and sweet as we remember!
Both Shorry J and Sangchu recently made headlines surrounding their appearances in the music video.

A photo of Shorry J and two ladies featured in the music video, supermodel Kang Suhee and fashion model Park Yoonjung, popped up the day before “Lalala” was revealed.
The photo clearly shows how Shorry J is at least a head shorter than the models in the photo, garnering him the nickname “Little Kid Shorry” — although hasn’t that always been his nickname?
Even in this supposedly embarrassing situation, netizens noticed that Shorry kept a cool, confident expression. They reassured him with comments like, “Musicians only need to be good at music,” and expressed their anticipation for the full video.
But when the MV was finally released, their eyes were immediately drawn to Sangchu instead.
His glorious dive at the 3 minute mark has garnered praise from netizens. I mean, we knew he worked out (there’s a reason why he’s one of the aces on Dream Team Season 2) but that form… Yep, Park Tae Hwan would definitely be proud.
Check out “Lalala” (and Sanchu’s dive) below and let us know what you think! New favorite summer track?

GD&TOP’s Logo Gets A Makeover!

GD&TOP, Big Bang‘s only project group (so far), will be re-releasing their first album next month to commemorate their brand new logo!
YG Entertainment put up a notice today regarding GD&TOP’s new official logo:

Hello, this is YG Entertainment.
Thank you for sending so much love to GD&TOP’s first studio album that was released last year on December 24.

GD&TOP’s bunny-shaped logo, as GD & TOP have mentioned in multiple interviews, was designed for the Zodiac year of the rabbit and used the image of a bunny’s ears with a fist making a V for victory sign, inspired by the Playboy Enterprises International Inc.’s bunny logo.
However, the company did not receive permission from Playboy, who owns the trademark rights to the owner, so the logo is not at all associated with Playboy Inc.
Therefore, due to the resulting confusion and polite requests from Playboy Inc., we have decided to stop using GD&TOP’s bunny logo.

YG Entertainment went on to announce that all albums with the bunny logo will be halted and a “NEW COVER” version (with all the same content) will be released in July.
You can bet that VIPs are already scrambling to buy up the last of the first edition albums with the original logo before they go out of stock forever.
We’re loving the new look and all, but what’s going to happen to GD&TOP’s bling-bling bunny necklaces?!
Which logo do you like better?

2NE1 Releases “I Am The Best” MV!

After a couple last-minute (but not that surprising) delays, YG Entertainment has finally unveiled the MV for 2NE1‘s hottest new single, “I’m The Best” on their official YouTube channel, garnering over half a million views in just a day.
Blackjacks were greeted with yet another gem of a video, with spectacular production and 2NE1′s signature fierceness.
The MV for “I Am The Best” is unlike anything out there — except for, well, 2NE1′s other music videos. Directed by Seo Hyung Seung, who also worked his magic for “Fire,” “Try To Follow Me,” and “Can’t Nobody,” the MV boosts the energetic club track in something with a little more attitude.
Korean media are calling it the most experimental and unconventional 2NE1 music video to date, from the glamorous set props to the intensely stunning visuals.
Bom’s a temptress with a poodle, CL’s in a strait jacket, Minzy’s decked out in chain mail, and Dara’s, well, being Dara — but we’re not all that shocked.
2NE1’s made a rep for themselves as artists who constantly walk the line between mind-blowingly innovative and just plain weird. And there’s definitely a bit of both in this MV. Check it out below!
Whether you think “I Am The Best” is 2NE1’s best single yet or just another 2NE1-flavored track, you can’t deny that no one comes close to pulling off what these four do… At least in K-Pop, anyway.

Even though they pull it off so confidently in the music video and onstage, it seems Dara  felt a little silly after 2NE1′s comeback performance on Inkigayo.
She revealed via Me2Day that she saw her younger brother Thunder (from MBLAQ) the day of recording.
After they both watched the broadcast that night at home, she suddenly became worried.
I always wanted to be the pretty older sister… but my appearance yesterday? (ㅠ_ㅠ ) Dara-gonball…
(Get it? Like Dragonball Z, because of her Vegeta hair?)
So she asked him if he was embarrassed and he smiled at her with No ^_^”
She bragged that her younger brother was the sweetest, and uploaded a recent polaroid of MBLAQ that he gave to her as a present.
Sigh. They really are the cutest pair of siblings…

2NE1′s “I’m The Best” Scores Perfect All-Kill!

2NE1 made their comeback on SBS Inkigayo last night with “I’m The Best,” eliciting a hot response and proving once again that 2NE1 is the idol group to beat this summer — if that’s even possible.
(Can’t really picture any other girl group members pulling off Sandara’s Vegeta hair… Although 2PM’s Taec’s hair in “Hands Up” comes eerily close…)
“I’m The Best,” produced by none other than Teddy, is a powerful fast-beat club track with oh-so-confident lyrics that emphasize the girls’ unparalleled presence in the K-pop scene. “You think you’re better than me? No, no, no, no. Me, me, me, me.” Watch their comeback performance below:

2NE1 — “I’m The Best” @ Inkigayo, June 26, 2011

The highly anticipated MV for “I’m The Best” will be released at 9:00 AM Korean time on June 28.
And with just hours left until the MV drops, YG-Life, the official YG Entertainment blog, revealed that 2NE1 has (yet again) scored a perfect all-kill across all the real-time music charts for the fifth week of June, from Melon and Soribada to Cyworld and Naver.

KARA’s Hara & BEAST Junhyung Are Dating! Netizens More Worried Than Upset

Guess K-Pop only has room for one idol couple at a time.
Just a week ago, SHINee‘s Jonghyun and rising actress Shin Se Kyung announced their split, and now BEAST‘s Junhyung and KARA‘s Hara have swiftly taken up residence as the next young celebrity couple.
Representatives from both idol members’ agencies, CUBE Entertainment and DSP Media, have confirmed the couple’s relationship, which began about a month ago.
Dispatch reporters spotted the couple on a few dates earlier this month. Apparently, due to busy schedules for both BEAST and Kara, Hara and Junhyung were only able to go on three dates since they began dating, where of course Dispatch was present to snap some paparazzi photos.
For Hara and Junhyung, the response is different from the flood of hate comments that rained on Shin Se Kyung’s cyworld and the sudden drop in Jonghyun’s fan cafe numbers that immediately followed their confession.
That’s not to say that devoted BEAST and KARA fans aren’t heartbroken and/or happy for the two, but there seems to be a bigger issue at hand. Netizens have expressed their concern for the Hara-Junhyung couple, wondering why the agencies so easily admitted that the two were in fact dating.

If they’ve only gone out three times, what’s the point of admitting that they’re in a budding relationship? Netizen comments included, “Why did they confess so easily? What if it doesn’t end well?” and “Wow, times really have changed…”
Comparisons to the Jonghyun and Se Kyung are inevitable, since that couple also revealed their relationship one month into dating after being caught by reporters.
Unfortunately, this had also led to some conclusions about Hara and Junhyung. Upcoming Japanese promotions for Kara with their latest single “Go Go Summer” and BEAST’s debut Japanese single “Bad Girl” = busy schedules = reason why the first couple broke up.
One thing’s for sure, Hara and Junhyung have got all eyes on them from here on out, and we’re thinking that’s not necessarily a good thing. Do you think they’ll suffer the same fate as the Jonghyun-Se Kyung couple? Maybe I should rephrase that — how long do you think until they suffer the same fate as the Jonghyun-Se Kyung couple?

Hara & Junhyung, who would have guessed?

BoA Overseas: Leader Of A New Global Girl Group?!

When SM Town Live in Paris rolled around earlier this month, BoA fans were sorry to hear that she’d be absent from the concert due to the filming schedule for her Hollywood debut, Cobu 3D.
Well, turns out she’s been busy with another major project in the making. A photo of BoA posing alongside five sexy femme fatales has been circulating online, and the six women have been dubbed the world’s next global girl group.
Okay, fine, not really. In actuality, the photo was taken on the set of Cobu 3D, but fans were amused by the thought of BoA joining an international girl group. Netizens remarked that if it was a real girl group, BoA would definitely be the leader — just look at her, shining with charisma, front and center! Comments included “She’s got the leader pose, even when she’s sitting” and “She’s the most eye-catching of the group.”

BoA also made some headlines when a photo of her smooching co-star Derek Hough (of Dancing With The Stars fame) surfaced.
Rumors that the two were dating were immediately squashed by both parties, because duh, it was a scene from the movie, but the steamy photo has made anticipation for Cobu 3D that much higher.
Unfortunately, the movie’s release is set for sometime in 2012, so who knows when that will be… Filming has been completed though, as BoA revealed on her Twitter that she was back home in Korea on June 27.
Cobu 3D is a dance movie (a la Step Up and Save the Last Dance) about two star-crossed lover-dancers caught in the crossfire between their rivaling brothers’ underground dance clubs.
The film stars BoA, Derek Hough, and American actors Wesley Jonathan (What I Like About You) and Miki Ishikawa.
[Bonus: TVXQ's Yunho was also spotted filming for the movie, so expect a special appearance!]

2PM Parties It Up In “Hands Up!”

The boys of 2PM are back in Korea, and they’ve shed the angst and heartbreak for a much more stylish and fun concept with their latest album Hands Up.

The title track, “Hands Up,” is already panning out to be this summer’s party anthem, with its repetitive melodies and addictive club beats. They’ve gone for a simpler, more playful choreography this time, boosting the song’s appeal with their infinite energy, as seen in the music video (below).

The 12-track album is full of treats for Hottests who have been patiently waiting for the boys to return from their Japanese promotions.
The album contains their past hits like “Without U” and “I’ll Be Back,” but the new songs are also a testament to 2PM’s growth as artists. Two tracks, “Give It To Me” and “Hot,” were written by members Junho and Junsu, respectively.

T-ara Goes Retro For “Roly Poly!“

T-ara will be making their comeback on July 1st with their new album, John Travolta Wannabe.
Why John Travolta, you ask?
Well, their upcoming title track “Roly Poly” is said to have been inspired by Korea’s 7080 glory period of disco and is hugely influenced by Travolta’s Saturday Night Fever.
Core Contents Media has released the music video teaser and album concept images, and it’s clear that these girls are taking bokko (Korean for retro) to a new extreme. It’s like 7080 overload!
The music video will star actress Im Ye Jin and T-ara’s Boram’s father Jeon Youngrok, who were two of Korea’s hottest teen stars back in the 70s. It will be their first time working together after 30 years!
In the “Roly Poly” teaser video, T-ara gives us a glimpse of the choreography, which features old-school dances like the hustle, the diamond, and the ABC. It’s anticipated to be a huge hit — a nationally-popular song that anyone from their 20s to their 50s can enjoy.

Will Big Bang’s Daesung Go To Jail?

It’s been almost a full month since Korea and the world of K-pop was hit with the news that Big Bang‘s Daesung was involved in a deadly car crash on the night of May 31.
Earlier today, police released the shocking results of their investigation at a press conference. Their conclusion? Daesung is responsible for the death of the motorcyclist.

Prior to contact with Daesung’s car, the motorcylist drove into a lamppost and was on the ground suffering severe injuries to his face, neck, and back.
According to autopsy results, the motorcyclist had been driving with a blood alcohol level of 0.186% (The legal limit is 0.05%).
Security footage from the taxi’s black box camera revealed that a mere 132 seconds later, Daesung’s car ran over the motorcyclist, dragging him 28.8 meters from where he had been lying.
Daesung was driving between 10 to 20 km over the speed limit and was not under the influence of alcohol.
Police have named Daesung the main cause of the motorcyclist’s death, due to their belief that the motorcyclist could not have died in the two minutes between hitting the lamppost and being run over by Daesung’s car.

“We have come to the conclusion that at the time of the accident, Daesung neglected to look forward to see the injured motorcyclist on the road, which caused multiple damages leading to the motorcyclist’s death at the scene [source].

And with that, they have handed the case over to prosecutors and recommended Daesung’s indictment. Legal consequences range from a jail sentence of no more than five years to a 20 million won (~20,000 US dollars).
So what does this mean? Will Daesung have to go to jail?
It’s pure speculation on my part, but I’m leaning towards a (very hopeful) no. Previous reports by Korean media referenced legal experts who revealed that in past similar situations (celebs and non-celebs alike), the guilty party was sentenced with probation and a hefty fine, but no real jail time.
Yonhap News spoke with Yang Hyun Suk, CEO of YG Entertainment, who said that Daesung will accept moral responsibility and follow all legal procedures. As would be expected, all of Daesung’s activities have temporarily been halted.
G-Dragon, TOP, Seungri, and Taeyang will be performing without Daesung at the Big Bang mini-concert in Gangnam-gu, Seoul on the 25th. According to YG Entertainment reps, the mini-concert, along with a few other scheduled activities will proceed without Daesung, in order to keep the promise made with Big Bang fans. Aside from those promotions, the future of the other members’ activities is unclear. Looks like Big Bang’s break after their Japanese tour is getting an open-ended extension…
Even if Daesung isn’t sentenced to jail time, don’t expect to see him on the television screens anytime soon. Not that netizens would ever sit by and let that happen. He’ll definitely be laying low for a long period of time, unless some broadcasting station suddenly decides to pick up Daesung’s drama “What’s Up,” which completed its filming earlier this year. Which they probably won’t. And if it does air, it’ll just be pre-recorded episodes of a happy-go-lucky carefree version of Daesung who has no idea what’s about to happen to him… I don’t think I could handle watching that.
K-pop fans are already mourning the unfortunate fate of Korea’s hottest boy band and are nervously waiting to see how this unbelievable state of affairs will play out. What worries fans the most is how Daesung will deal with the emotional fallout from the accident

M&D (Heechul & Jungmo) Release “Close Your Mouth”

Super Junior‘s Heechul and the TRAX‘s Jungmo have teamed up to form SM Entertainment‘s newest project group, M&D.
Heechul introduced the group on Twitter as “a selfish team that breaks up hundreds of times a day, isn’t refreshing or cute, has a dirty personality, and does what it wants to do.”
Their debut song, “Close Ur Mouth,” composed and arranged by musical genius Jungmo and written by Heechul, fits Heechul’s summary to a tee (The Korean title literally translates to “What are you looking at?).
In the song, a guy who was just dumped tries to get back at his ex-girlfriend by telling her off. He basically turns the breakup around, explaining that he’s cool with it because there are plenty of girls who want him (and no guys chasing after her). Psh, boys and their pride.
Not exactly the kind of lyrics we’re used to hearing from SM artists — but that’s basically the point of this whole project: for Jungmo and Heechul to pursue their own unique interests in music. They’re planning to release song after song, for as long as they can, in any genre they choose.
For this one, they’ve gone with what SM Entertainment has called disco rock, and fans are already anticipating M&D’s next digitial single.
Having full control over their music must not have been enough artistic freedom for Heechul because he went on to direct and produce the “Close Ur Mouth” music video, which was filmed at a karaoke bar in Seoul.
He called on celeb buddies Supreme Team’s Simon D, F.T. Island’s Hongki and Jonghun, BEAST’s Junhyung, comedian Kim Kyungjin, and Miss A’s Jia to make special appearances in the video, and the response has been hot!
Watch it below:

MTV’s Match Up Premieres B1A4 & Block B’s New MVs!

The first episode of MTV Korea’s Match Up aired on June 22, revealing the music videos for B1A4‘s “Only Learned the Bad Things” and Block B‘s “Tell Them,” which have been simultaneously unveiled on various music portal sites.

This comes just in time for B1A4′s follow-up promotions with “Only Learned the Bad Things,” as well as the release of Block B’s first mini-album, New Kids on the Block.

Block B — “가서 전해 (Tell Them)”

“Tell Them” is a bright and edgy hip-hop/pop track about. It’s no “Halo,” but it’s nice to see that Block B’s versatile enough to pull off heavier songs like “Wanna B” and flawlessly transition into a more idol-esque (if I may) party song. Still can’t believe it’s only been a couple months since their debut, because they sure as hell don’t sound like rookies.

B1A4 — “못된 것만 배워서 (Only Learned The Bad Things)”

“Only Learned The Bad Things” adds an element of R&B and showcases the members’ gentle charisma, toning down the energy level and adding a bit of sophistication to their vocals.
Rapper Baro stars in the music video as the stereotypical blood-type-B boyfriend. In Korea, guys with blood type B have a reputation of being temperamental and selfish, but Baro makes it a lovable and surprising quality.

Usually product placement pisses me off — take the drama City Hunter for example (don’t get me started) — but in the case of Block B and B1A4′s new music videos, I guess we should be thanking Tropicana Sparkling for taking it upon themselves to sponsor MTV’s Match Up and supporting these rookies.
The first episode has garnered lots of interest in both B1A4 and Block B. Fans (and soon-to-be fans) were able to learn more about the 12 members and see what they’re actually like offstage. The episode featured early morning dorm invasions with Baro’s pink laundry slip-up, pants-less Jaeho, an impromptu reggae session with ZICO and P.O, clumsy and painstakingly adorable Gongchan, and exclusive footage of filming for both music videos!
What do you guys think of the new MVs?

Dude Looks Like A Lady - Top 10 Cross - Dressing Idols

K-Pop and cross-dressing seems to go hand in hand.
Yet, nothing gives a male idol more popularity than some mascara, a wig and a tight dress.
Disclaimer : Yes, we realize all of these idols look 100 times better as guys but that doesn’t change the fact they look hot as girls too.

B1A4 & Block B Face Off in MTV’s Match Up!

Starting June 22, MTV Korea will be airing a new idol reality show, “Match Up,” starring this year’s hottest rookies, the lovable boys of B1A4 and the charismatic guys of Block B.
The format of the show will allow both groups to show off their musical talents and unseen charms through weekly missions and behind-the-scenes footage of their daily lives as newcomers to the K-pop scene.
After a strong debut with “Freeze” and “Wanna B,” the seven members of Block B, formed under the watchful guidance of Cho PD, are currently preparing for their first mini album, set for a June 23rd release.
Meanwhile, B1A4, who received lots of attention for their energetic performances of “O.K” will begin promoting their follow-up single, “Only Learned the Bad Things” this week.
Eight whole episodes following around two of K-pop’s most talented rookie groups to their rehearsals, photo shoots, and MV filming… Will you be tuning in? (We know we will!)
More importantly, who are you more excited to see — B1A4 or Block B?

` Watch the teaser below, which gives us a first look at just how different these two groups are ` --) So, I'll give you the link ! :)
